How long do you want to ignore this user?
please help me understand something.
walton was a highly recruited high school player.
i imagine he could have gone to many schools.
he chose georgia and barely played as a freshman.
as a guess he was not ready physically, fighting a nagging injury
or "in the dog house" as people used to say.

in the first two games this year he barely played more than a walk on.
i heard a reporter ask coach crean once last season if walton was healthy
and crean said yes.

why would walton not ask for a redshirt for last season?
why would he not transfer as opposed to sitting?
is there something i am missing?

It's a very small sample size, but if you watched him play v. N. Ga -oof. He had either already checked out or he is terminally behind in development because of last year - whatever that was. Or his recruiting rank was just flat wrong. Lot of speculation about a possible Dec/Jan transfer into the program with the open scholarship....

Yeah, best-case scenario here is that "someone" (Aminu Mohammed) is coming early and Crean had to open a spot. If so, that's Crean doing his job, and it's also the ugly side of all of this "amateurism."

I was hoping Jaykwon would contribute this year, and I wish him the best.

when i wrote this post this morning i was unaware walton entered the transfer portal.
i guess that partially answers my questions.
does anyone know why he didnt get a redshirt from last year?

I don't know all of the redshirt rules, but he played in 7 games, so he probably wasn't eligible for one...right?

you are probably right.
but he played 38 minutes total and didnt play after jan 18.
its a shame a guy like him would lose a year of eligibility over a few minutes here
and there.
in hindsight he should have seen the writing on the wall and left sooner.
