Airforce....you're a stat machine! lol
So what's your opinion...give me your top 5 ranking going into the season..??
As the saying goes, beauty is in the eye of the beholder...
1. Alabama QB
Tua Tagovailoa, 6'1", 219 lbs, 4.58 40 [2017 5* prospect]: in 8 games he's completed 49 of 77 passes (63.6%) for 636 yds w/ 11 TDs & 2 INTs, and rushed 8x for 27 yds (4.9 ypc) & 2 TDs; note - completed 14 of 24 passes for 166 yds, 3 TDs, & 1 INT and rushed 12x for 27 yds vs UGA in the CFP National Championship Game on 8 January 2018; although he hasn't played much, he was a highly touted prospect that delivered when it counted most [i.e., coming in the second half of the national championship game w/ his team down 13-0 and rallying them to an overtime win by throwing a 41-yd TD pass on 2nd down and 16 when the Crimson Tide was down by 3]
2. Oregon QB
Justin Herbert, 6'6", 225 lbs, 4.81 40 [2016 3* prospect]: in 16 games he's completed 301 of 461 passes (65.3%) for 3,919 yds w/ 34 TDs & 9 INTs; rushed 102x for 344 yds (avg. 3.4 ypc) & 7 TDs - note: has the size, TD-to-INT ratio, and completion % that NFL scouts love; not quick, but can pick up a few yds on his own
3. West Virginia QB
Will Grier, 6'2", 204 lbs, 4.62 40 [2016 4* prospect]: in 17 games he's completed 355 of 548 passes (64.8%) for 4,692 yds w/ 44 TDs & 15 INTs, and rushed 99x for 238 yds (2.4 ypc) & 4 TDs - note: negative marks for getting busted for PEDs at Florida and getting booted from the program, but he can play (fwiw, I think Jim McElwain is still the head coach of the Gators if Grier stayed); bonus points for being the son of a high school head football coach (I think that helps his football IQ)
4. Alabama QB
Jalen Hurts, 6'2", 218 lbs, 4.62 40 [2016 4* prospect]: in 29 games he's completed 394 of 637 passes (61.9%) for 4,861 yds w/ 40 TDs & 10 INTs, and rushed 345x for 1,809 yds (5.2 ypc) & 21 TDs - note: completed 3 of 8 passes for 21 yds and rushed 6x for 47 yds vs. UGA in the CFP National Championship Game on 8 January 2018 - note: talented QB but didn't perform well in the national championship game; if he would have remained in the game, then I think the Dawgs would have won it in regulation
5. Penn State QB
Trace McSorley, 6', 202 lbs, 4.64 40 [2014 3* prospect]: in 33 games he's completed 528 of 854 passes (61.8%) for 7,369 yds w/ 59 TDs & 18 INTs, and rushed 303x for 899 yds (avg. 3 ypc) & 18 TDs - good QB, but a bit undersized
6. Washington QB
Jake Browning, 6'2", 210 lbs, 4.78 40 [2015 4* prospect]: in 39 games he's completed 706 of 1,096 passes (64.4%) for 9,104 yds w/ 78 TDs & 24 INTs, rushed 186x for 105 yds (0.6 ypc) w/ 12 TDs, caught 1 pass for 4 yds, and punted 12x for 425 yds (avg. 35.4 yds/punt) - note: I'm giving him the edge over Fromm based on his seniority
7. Auburn QB
Jarrett Stidham, 6'3", 214 lbs., 4.57 40 [2015 4* prospect]: in 24 games he's completed 321 of 479 passes (67%) for 4,423 yds w/ 30 TDs & 8 INTs, and rushed 139x for 223 yds (1.6 ypc) & 6 TDs - transferred from Baylor
8. Georgia QB
Jake Fromm, 6'2", 225 lbs, 4.96 40 [2017 4* prospect]: in 15 games he's completed 181 of 291 passes (62.2%) for 2,615 yds w/ 24 TDs & 7 INTs, and rushed 55x for 79 yds (1.4 ypc) & 3 TDs - note: strengths are putting UGA's offense in the right play pre-snap, competitiveness, and work ethic; would like to see more quickness and elusiveness from him when plays break down to make something out of nothing
9. Arizona QB
Khalil Tate, 6'2", 215 lbs, 4.52 40 [2016 4* prospect]: in 18 games he's completed 129 of 224 passes (57.6%) for 1,834 yds w/ 17 TDs & 12 INTs, and rushed 202x for 1,648 yds (8.2 ypc) & 13 TDs - note: so-so stats throwing, but wow can he break a game open w/ his legs
10. Mississippi State QB
Nick Fitzgerald, 6'5", 230 lbs, 4.59 40 [2014 3* QB]: in 32 games he's completed 366 of 661 passes (55.4%) for 4,440 yds w/ 39 TDs & 21 INTs, and rushed 380x for 2,486 yds (avg. 6.5 ypc) & 31 TDs - note: dislocated right ankle on 23 November 2017; not sure how that will affect his mobility going forward
11. Boise State QB
Brett Rypien, 6'2", 208 lbs, 4.86 40 [2015 4* prospect]: in 37 games he's completed 734 of 1,170 passes (62.7%) for 9,873 yds w/ 60 TDs & 22 INTs; rushed 126x for -114 yds (-0.9 ypc) & 3 TDs - note: nephew of former NFL QB Mark Rypien
12. Michigan QB
Shea Patterson, 6'2", 203 lbs, 4.58 40 [2016 5* prospect]: in 10 games he's completed 238 of 392 passes (60.7%) for 3,139 yds w/ 23 TDs & 12 INTs, rushed 88x for 153 yds (1.7 ypc) & 1 TD - note: tore PCL in right knee on 22 October 2017 that ended his season; not sure how that will affect his mobility going forward; will be interesting to see how he transitions from a pass-happy offense to a more grind-it-out offense w/ the Wolverines
13. Missouri QB
Drew Lock, 6'4", 225 lbs, 4.89 40 [2015 4* prospect]: in 37 games he's completed 608 of 1,116 passes (54.5%) for 8,695 yds w/ 71 TDs & 31 INTs; rushed 147x for 262 yds (avg. 1.8 ypc) & 3 TDs - note: he's got size that NFL scouts love and can sling it, but I don't like his completion % or high # of interceptions; mediocre speed
14. Clemson QB
Kelly Bryant, 6'3", 215 lbs, 4.64 40 [2015 3* prospect]: in 25 games he's completed 275 of 416 passes (66.1%) for 2,877 yds w/ 14 TDs & 9 INTs, rushed 227x for 843 yds (3.7 ypc) & 14 TDs, and punted 1x for 45 yds - note: good completion %, unimpressive TD-to-INT ratio, good speed
15. Michigan State QB
Brian Lewerke, 6'3", 212 lbs., 4.86 40 [2015 3* prospect]: in 17 games he's completed 277 of 474 passes (58.4%) for 3,174 yds w/ 22 TDs & 8 INTs, rushed 145x for 708 yds (avg. 4.9 ypc) w/ 5 TDs, and caught 1 pass for 5 yds
16. South Carolina QB
Jake Bentley, 6'3", 220 lbs, 4.81 40 [2016 4* prospect] - in 20 games he completed 370 of 584 passes (63.4%) w/ 27 TDs & 16 INTs and rushed 123x for 70 yds (0.6 ypc) & 6 TDs - note: skipped senior year of HS to early enroll at USC
17. Central Florida QB
McKenzie Milton, 5'11", 177 lbs, 4.53 40 [2016 3* prospect]: in 23 games he's completed 459 of 731 passes (62.8%) for 6,020 yds w/ 47 TDs & 16 INTs, and rushed 206x for 771 yds (3.7 ypc) & 11 TDs - note: love his stats but he's way undersized and I don't think he'd do any better in the SEC than walk-on UGA QB Stetson Bennett
18. Northwestern QB
Clayton Thorson, 6'4", 225 lbs, 4.76 40 [2014 4* prospect]: in 39 games he's completed 692 of 1,207 passes (57.3%) for 7,548 yds w/ 44 TDs & 30 INTs; rushed 284x for 518 yds (1.8 ypc) & 18 TDs
