How long do you want to ignore this user?
He did pretty well with ND. Is he a come-in-and-start-right-away kinda player on the DL, or is this just going to be a we-need-depth move? What do you know about him?

Notre Dame graduate transfer DL Jay Hayes was a 2014 4* SDE prospect from Poly Prep County Day School in Brooklyn, NY (same school that UGA RT Isaiah Wilson attended). According to Notre Dame's 2017 roster he measures 6'3 5/8", 289 lbs. In 26 career games w/ 13 starts for the Fighting Irish he made 39 tackles, 4 TFL, and 1 sack. Last season vs. UGA he made 7 tackles (5 solo & 2 assisted). According to Notre Dame fans, he's great at gap control and stuffing the rush, but has limited pass rushing skills. Therefore, I expect him to play quite a bit this fall (he's immediately eligible), esp. in non-passing situations.

This is probably a dumb question, cause I really don't know too much about how all of this 'gray shirting' and everything works, but I assume this might have something to do with the Walthour taking one?

It's uncertain whether Walthour will delay his enrollment and take a grayshirt for academic reasons (similar to 2017 4* DT Devonte Wyatt, who signed an NLI w/ UGA on 1 February 2017, then enrolled at Hutchinson Community College on 16 August [and played football for the Blue Dragons], then enrolled at UGA on 5 January 2018) or that UGA oversigned by allowing 26 Class of 2018 prospective-student athletes to submit binding National Letters of Intents and Financial Aid Agreements.

If the latter is the case, then the Dawgs couldn't put him on scholarship this year because the SEC/NCAA caps FBS scholarships at 25 per year.

Fwiw, another complicating factor is Notre Dame graduate transfer Jay Hayes' expected arrival next month. Does he count against UGA's annual cap of 25 or will he be backdated to the Class of 2014 when he originally signed with Notre Dame?
