Great article but unfortunately times have changed with the new generation of players. His generation played games even if they were declaring for the draft, they were more team oriented than players are today-I mean just look at the recruiting world to see how ME first these guys truly are.

Kirby can do only so much to get his players to play in the game-he can bench them (which the report during the game made it sound like he did-course he denied it because that reflects bad on his players), but we see this a lot of years with a lot of different programs. We saw it just last year with Auburn against UCF, and we also saw it with Michigan against UF. In all three games I mentioned, the teams that won were excited to be there, the teams that lost were not because they have bigger hopes that were dashed there game before.

Bottom line is you can't read much into bowl games any longer except the playoff games, in those games you get those 4 teams BEST effort, and if the game is a blowout-as both were even though OU made a comeback of sorts, you see that OU and ND were not worthy against Bama/Clemson. Do I think we are capable of beating those two, yes, on a given day I do, especially Clemson. But, we had our chance and we didn't get the W. Our players need to use that feeling of getting snubbed to fuel them for next year-they need to realize that IF they didn't lose to LSU, even with the loss to Bama they make it in. They nearly made it in with 2 losses but they better learn from the lessons this season provided and that is EVERY GAME matters which is what Worley is saying, it is just that this generation of player is not going to see the Sugar bowl like he does or like we the fans do-the real game to circle this year-losing at LSU for sure, and then blowing the lead against Bama when they just couldn't finish.

Two items CKS wil, forever, regret: 1.-Allowing D. Baker to go to the game.
2.-Humiliating J. Fields the way he did.

You, DGD Tim, thank you a million times. I got goose bumps reading your Pep Talk. Are you listening UGA Leadership? Are you listening? One more thing: UGA didn't belong in the NCgame. UGA players showed why in New Orleans that Jan 1st. 2019. The NCPC is also watching, watching, and watching very closely re teams' arrogance for future voting. Nufff said.

Good points BigK, that attitude didn't serve them well before or after the game.

As for Kirby, I have no problem with him allowing Baker to go with the team, I do question why Baker didn't play but that is water under the bridge-I watched Josh Allen at UK who will probably be drafted before DBake, not only play but play his butt off at UK. I do blame Kirby for allowing Fields to hang around IF the kid is transferring, I just think that was not handled correctly first by Fields and his family, and then secondly by Kirby. I don't think we will have that many regrets about Fields, because I am still not sold on him being an elite QB-he has the potential but does he have the patience to learn? He might be a stud in a couple years, but he could have been a stud in a couple years playing at UGA.

Fwiw, UGA avg. 7.53 yds per play w/ Fields compared to 7.14 yds per play w/ Fromm this season.

Interesting stat but still not sold on Fields. He can and probably will prove me wrong but he has a lot of learning to do, there is a reason he was not a top recruit until the summer before his SR year, he played less than two seasons as a HS starting QB, when he played he showed an amazing arm and athletic ability but he also showed a QB that didn't trust his protection or didn't know the progressions well enough to find someone other than his primary read. He took off running, and while he has wheels, that can't always get you by in college against elite defenses where DL can run as fast as the QB. He ran for some TD's he did a nice job, I don't wish bad on the kid, but I do think he needed to have more patience-and the prime example of that was looking at the defending national champs. He is the product of his circle and those folks think he should have been the starter from day one, and that is not how it works. Bottom line, I think Fromm will end up staying 4 years and maybe JF1 just didn't think he could beat him out or didn't believe that Kirby/Chaney/Coley would ever give him a fair chance. He just better make sure that where he goes there is a clear path to the starting spot, I honestly don't see that at the rumored places he is looking.

Whether he stayed or transferred I have had a little bit of reservation about Fields. It was pretty obvious he as a freshman was not in Fromm's orbit when he was a freshman.I do wish Fromm was more mobile.

The Ohio State people say he has submitted paperwork to enroll and the view him as the second coming. If the NCAA grants him immediate eligibility that is going to cause a flood of transfers in the future, imo.

Yep, if he is granted immediate eligibility, it does open up a can of worms-but I have heard they potentially could use the racial slur made by the baseball player to clear him-and if that is the case, the NCAA probably will allow it because they don't want to deny that-but that said, what if other players are called something bad, even if they don't hear it themselves, do they get to transfer without sitting out??

I also heard that Trevor Lawrence might try to petition the NCAA to allow him to enter the NFL draft after this year with it being such a weak year for QB's and why should he wait-no kids want to wait any longer. IF that happens, football will begin to become like college basketball and don't think this is not coming. OSU had it happen before with Clarett I believe.
