Well, just reading an LSU site where some are up in arms. I've read the same arguments in some other articles recently as well; There is an elite group of teams that are living up on the hill in the castle while all of the other 120+ teams in the country are just a bunch of peasants roaming the barren countryside, picking up the scraps.
The argument is that this is eventually gonna destroy CFB or at the very least, make most of the nation loose interest. Before long, the only thing that is gonna matter is making it to a New's Game, while Bama, UGA, Clemson, Ohio St and Oklahoma and maybe a few other teams like Notre Dame, LSU and Texas, fight over the playoff spots and the National Championship.
There's cries for some sorta NCAA intervention to even the playing field. I've read everything from start limiting scholly numbers of the big boys and increasing the number for losing teams, to limiting the number of coaches a team can have. Apparently, Saban has about 40 guys that work on JUST administrative and recruiting stuff.
So....what does my DP brethren think of this? Maybe it's not fair to ask our fanbase, seeing as how we currently seem to be among the best 4 or 5 best teams in the nation. The fact that we outplayed Bama for 3 quarters probably sent a big message to the rest of the country that we are the only school, with the exception of maybe Clemson, that has a chance to dethrown Lord Saban.
My opinion on all of this is, like I told Haney on another thread, is simple; stop whining and win! We didn't get here over night. Smart came in and rolled up his sleeves and went to work. We recruit like crazy, we coach them up, we have facilities now that rival anybody's and our S&C program is second to none. The fact that apparently have boosters with deep pockets isn't our fault either.
The only real unfair advantage we have, in my opinion, is that we live in an extremely talent rich state...but who's to blame for that?
So....is things really gonna eventually start going south with the rest of the country? Should there be some kind of limitations put in place?
Thoughts?
