Just read about John Rhys Plumlee and his stats in their playoff game the other night. 13-18, 170 yards passing and 3 TDs, 207 yards rushing and 3 rushing TDs. Holy cow...he's up to the #8 dual purpose QB in the nation now by 247 sports.
It's beginning to be veeeery clear why Bama and Florida and Oregon and several other big schools started offering this kid before the rankings started recognizing how good he was. This is another reason why we should trust team recruiters over the 'recruiting gurus' sometimes. We got a real hidden gem in this kid. He's only 6'1" and 180 lbs, probably one reason he wasn't ranked higher earlier. But I'd say this is a pretty good get.

Hey AFD.....my cousin, who is best friends with Trevor Lawrence, (that's how I got to meet the kid before he went off to Clemson), was talking to me about our recruiting of QBs. It's like he said, we just don't seem to be interested in the big ol 6'4" pro style drop back guys anymore. Other than Plumlee, it doesn't look much like Kirb is interested in getting anybody else in this class, even though we're down to just 2 scholly QBs. So, is the ol pro-style a thing of the past now with UGA? It really does look like he's putting all of his eggs in Plumlee's basket.

I do believe that Fields has a bright future with us, but I also believe that TL is going to play 3 stellar seasons and be a first round draft pick for someone. So...I dunno.....I know it was impossible to get Fields and Lawrence both in the same class being the stars that they were. But with our impressive stable of RBs that we always seem to have, I wonder why we have strayed away from what Stafford said when he was here....'When you got the RBs behind me that we got, I feel much better just turning and giving them the ball than running myself.'

What's your thoughts on that?

We have a few other offers out. 2 from Hawaii right off the top of my head. Tua Tagovailoa's brother is one. Dillon Gabriel is the other. Both look very good to me. That'd be awesome if we pulled Tua's brother after we got Calvin Ridley's brother, Riley, the year before last.

Word on the street is Smart wants UGA to sign two QBs to this signing class. Other than Plumlee, I'm not sure how many other QB prospects want to sit behind Fromm/Fields for the next 2-3 years until they have a legitimate shot at starting.

Class of 2019 UGA QB offers (x22):

- 4* pro-style QB Ryan Hilinski (committed to South Carolina)
- 4* pro-style QB Sam Howell (committed to FSU)
- 4* pro-style QB Graham Mertz (committed to Wisconsin)
- 4* pro-style QB Hank Bachmeier (committed to Boise State)
- 4* pro-style QB Cade McNamara (committed to Michigan)
- 4* pro-style QB Jacob Zeno (committed to Baylor)
- 4* pro-style QB Joey Yellen (committed to Arizona State)
- 4* pro-style QB Connor Bazelak (committed to Missouri)
- 3* pro-style QB Grant Gunnell (committed to Arizona)
- 3* pro-style QB Zach Calzada (committed to Texas A&M)
- 3* pro-style QB Jaden Johnson (committed to Louisville)
- 3* pro-style QB Alex Padilla (committed to Iowa)
- 2* pro-style QB Dillon Gabriel - uncommitted
- 4* dual-threat QB Bo Nix (committed to Auburn)
- 4* dual-threat QB Jayden Daniels - uncommitted
- 4* dual-threat QB Lance LeGendre - uncommitted
- 4* dual-threat QB Michael Johnson, Jr. (committed to Penn State)
- 4* dual-threat QB John Rhys Plumlee (committed to UGA)
- 4* dual-threat QB Max Duggan (committed to TCU)
- 3* dual-threat QB KJ Jefferson (committed to Arkansas)
- 3* dual-threat QB David Baldwin - uncommitted
- 3* dual-threat QB Brendan Costello (committed to Oklahoma State)

Btw, on 13 June 2018 UGA offered 5* pro-style QB DJ Uiagalelei, 6'5", 245 lbs. (the next great Tua/Fields-type dual-threat QB). He plays for St. John Bosco HS in Bellflower, CA and his team is 13-0 and ranked #1 in the USA.
