Well, you gotta figure....he goes to the game, Fromm throws for 165 yards, NO passing TDs, Fields comes in and scores twice on read-option runs. It would have helped to had Fields come in and do some passing and get the kids mouth to salivating. Now, he's probably gonna have a visit from Dabo and tell him that Lawrence is gonna be throwing the ball all over the place the next 3 years.

Looking at that chart, it doesn't appear we're any different from Bama and the other top schools, statistically speaking. But I think it's perception. When you think of our O right now, everyone thinks of us as a ground-n-pound with a gang of RBs. Ohio St with Haskins and Bama with Tau and Clemson, now with TL taking over are going to be making the highlight reels with passes, not runs, more times than not. You gotta figure, recruiters are going to use that against us with these recruits.
I asked in a thread a while back, when will our O style start hurting our recruiting with WRs and that looks like it might already be starting.
What do you think about it AFD?

I figured this kid might do this, he has been solid but yet visiting a LOT to Miami and Auburn, which neither throw the ball a ton nor have QB's for next year like we do. I personally think this kid wants the attention, he craves it and hopefully will come back when all is said and done. That being said, based on what we were posting yesterday about the passing, you can go look at Bama for example, they are running up huge numbers on the scoreboard, check out the passing yards they accumulate. I am pretty sure they have over 300 yards passing in 3 of their 5 games so far, and we have zero 300 yard passing days pretty sure.

This goes back to what I said just yesterday, we have too many weapons at WR/TE to not be using them more than we currently are. I know what Kirby wants to do, and I get it but we have had games this year where would could and should have thrown the ball more-to work on our passing game, to give Fields more passing attempts. I think this kid has someone in his head saying, look at how few catches these 4 and 5 star WR's are getting at UGA. Course I could see him being interested in a spread team like OU, more than Auburn/Miami.

Since UGA has three 5* WRs (i.e., Mecole Hardman, Terry Godwin, and Demetris Robertson) and a 5* TE (i.e., Isaac Nauta), I'd like to see the Dawgs throw more to these highly rated prospects in order to stretch the field. Sadly, Godwin only has 4 receptions this season while Robertson has zero. Perhaps Kirby has ordered Chaney to run more to keep the clock moving and shorten the game for our defense. He may also be preparing for upcoming physical battles with LSU, Auburn, Alabama, et al.

AFD-

I do think there is something to exactly what you have said. I think Kirby has instructed Chaney (or maybe this is just me hoping) to play this style for a couple reasons-to shorten each game and to wear other teams out-because he doesn't quite trust his own defense at this point, and the quicker the games are over, the less chance for injury so we are fresh and ready for LSU, then have a bye before UF. Those are two crucial games, obviously so are the UK and AU games, but if we can win those two games, we could potentially wrap up the east with a win over UK.

When you throw the ball, more bad CAN happen than good-and perhaps he has more confidence at this time with his relatively young OL run blocking than pass blocking. I am really curious how the play calling will shape up come LSU game. We simply can't afford to have such sluggish starts, we can't afford to run, run, pass. We have very good backs, no doubt there but we have even more depth and quality at WR/TE. If you notice, our offense is already probably 80% in the shotgun as it stands now, I am in favor of spreading a team out and throwing the ball around every few series or during a series-and on 1st down, not just 3rd and long.
