So, we just completed a $63 million dollar reno of the locker rooms and now I'm hearing that we are about to start another bazillion dollar upgrade of the weightroom. Not that I'm complaining, but when does this madness end? It's like a arms race between us and Bama and Clemson and the big dogs of the CFB world. I swear if McGarity found out that Bama had just bought female cyborgs to come in after practice and give massages to all of the players and then have their own personal steam room and jacuzzi in their dorm rooms, he'd be on the phone the next day buying freakun robots. Is it getting out of hand?

Anyway, AFD...what do you know about the weightroom additions...anything?

Indications are that a new weight room and additional meeting rooms and coaches' offices will added to the Butts-Mehre Football Complex over the next year.

Coming down the pike in the future are plans to expand the football complex in a project that "goes way beyond" enlarging the Bulldogs' weight room and training facility, [McGarity] said.

We just got a check from the SEC for 42.8 mill, the highest in the conference. Let's make UGA the top DAWG in everything.

It got out of hand decades ago :-)

I read somewhere that Bama's weight room is 3 times the size of ours. We have been behind the top tier for a while are are still behind but we are closing the gap. I just hope we spend wisely and not waste too much money on waterfalls, bowling alley, slide, mini golf, etc.

SEC Football S&C Facilities:

1. Alabama: 37,000 sq ft
2. Florida: 25,000 sq ft
3. South Carolina: 22,300 sq ft
4. Tennessee: 22,000 sq ft
5. Texas A&M: 19,000 sq ft
6. Arkansas: 18,000 sq ft
7. Mississippi State: 16,000 sq ft
8. Auburn: 15,000 sq ft
9. LSU: 15,000 sq ft
10. Kentucky: 14,000 sq ft
11. Missouri: 13,000 sq ft
12. UGA: 12,000 sq ft
13. Ole Miss: 10,000 sq ft
14. Vanderbilt: 8,000 sq ft

Note: one criticism of UGA's facility is that it's too small for the team's 125 players to work out simultaneously

So, we have a small weightroom and just signed the #1 recruiting class in the country and played for a NC....So, having an undersized weightroom doesn't seem to be effecting recruiting or performance on the field.

We had some good seasons before the indoor practice facility but most would say it helped us last season with preparations and recruiting. Having the kind of mentality of not keeping up with the top tier is one of the things that kept us behind in the last 9 years of Richt.
