Best wishes for him!
To be Brutally honest, this is the guy Richt recruited and stuck by. Now, personally, It was noble gesture for Richt to do this. However, while we saw some good outcomes, we saw many that couldn't fully rehab. It is truly unfortunate for the player, but understandable for the team.
I have no issue w/ coaching staffs communicating frankly w/ prospects as the recruiting process is dynamic. Fwiw, we usually only get the recruit's perspective (as institutions aren't allowed to comment on prospective student athletes [PSA]), thus we don't know the full story re: their grades, test scores, work ethic, health status, character issues, disciplinary actions, competitiveness, etc. Given that only 1% of high school seniors earn FBS scholarship offers, if one prospect (e.g., 2018 4* OT Luke Griffin) opts to go elsewhere then that opens up a window of opportunity for another PSA (e.g., 2018 4* OT Warren McClendon, Jr.) to commit/sign w/ UGA.
Btw, Kirby has shown a willingness to stick with injured recruits (e.g., 2018 5* RB Zamir White and 4* OLB Azeez Ojulari tore ACLs late in their senior seasons).
