They will allow teams to determine fines.

I just really don't like this. To me, players, like all of us, have the constitutional right of free speech. I realize the NFL is not a government entity, to which the 1st Amendment technically would not apply. I just don't like it.

I like it. I agree, everyone is entitled to free speech, but do it on your own time. I'm sure I'd be fired if I was demonstrating my personal opinions and beliefs on company time.

To me, the NFL is a different kind of business, It's very public. Players are followed around and reported on constantly. Players constantly represent the NFL "brand". There's almost no time when a player isn't "on the job." I think this whole thing is making mountains out of molehills myself. This is about the most minor "protest" one can imagine. Hell, why is the National Anthem played before sporting events anyway? It's unnecessary. This is just another excuse for corporations or governments to take away individual rights.

I know this isn't a political forum and I don't want to get all politicky, but to me it's just...well, it's just a weird correlation and a beyond strange 'protest', if that's what we're calling it. All it has served to do is cause a whole bunch of conflict and dessention and discord and the whole idea of protest is to do it against something that actually relates to what it is you're protesting. So, that being said, if I was the NFL commissioners and owners, etc., I would probably impose a ban on it as well. It's hurting business...bringing bad pub to it and causing discord to something that has nothing to do with the object of the protesting. So, I don't blame them. It's hurting the business, and the NFL, like it or not, IS a business.
