Kendal Williams had a gold-medal Sunday in Knoxville.

The Stanton graduate and University of Georgia sprinter swept the 100- and 200-meter dash championships at the SEC Track and Field Championships.

Williams ran a 9.99 to win the 100 and then added a 20.15 in the 200 for the golds. His time in the 100 is the best in Georgia history and ranks second in the world this season to Ronnie Baker's 9.97 at last month's Mt. SAC Relays in Torrance, Calif.

Williams' 100-200 double was the first time since Mel Lattany in 1981 where a Bulldogs runner swept both the sprint events.

Williams' 200 time ranks fifth in the nation and 15th in the world this year.
