OXFORD, AL - Sam Pittman has done it again.

One of the best recruiters in the nation hit another home run as the Georgia Bulldogs have gone into Alabama to landed the state’s top player, five-star offensive lineman Clay Webb.

Before Kirby Smart and Sam Pittman got to Athens, landing a five-star offensive lineman was a difficult enough challenge… getting a 5-star from Alabama? Nearly impossible. But that’s exactly what has happened. Webb picked the UGA over Alabama and Clemson on Monday morning.

The five-star prospect was very quiet about his recruitment the entire way, and while many thought he was Alabama bound from the start, Pittman has once more done what he does best - recruiting and getting commitments five-star offensive lineman.

Webb didn’t enjoy the limelight and attention that comes with being a five-star prospect. He didn’t take a single official visit. He didn’t make a big deal about his unofficial visits. Webb said all the right things about each school, and kept everyone guessing until the end.

What we did know was the Georgia was a legitimate contender from the very start. Webb has family ties to Georgia and developed a relationship with Pittman early on. Relationships with the staff and coaching stability were major factors in Webb’s decision.

The Georgia offensive line is known as one of the country’s best, and it will only get better with the addition of Webb. The state championship wrestler will push for playing time the moment he gets on campus.

Webb becomes Georgia’s 19th commitment in the 2019 class, joining four-stars Xavier Truss and Warren McClendon on the offensive line.
