ATHENS - Georgia Bulldog cornerback Demello Jones spoke with the media this week about his first INT of the season, playing on the road, his defensive back teammates and more.
On his first INT last weekend..
“I was very close to the touchdown but after replay I saw I was just short. It was just a good play call from coach Schumann and the rest of it was God.

“In the SEC, you've got to be physical. This is a physical place. Everybody kind of know that. That's what coach harps about all the time. We know going into these SEC games, that's why as the defensive backs we're going to have to step up.”

“I won't just point out one receiver. They’re all great receivers, all can run and are physical. I really can't point out just one. They all get out there every day. We have 12 battles every day at practice. I go against all of them so it's great matchups every day.
On staying at cornerback after playing everything in high school...
“At first it was tough just having one position now I've been playing everything all my life so it was tough at first. I just stayed down and trusted the coaches and coach Dante and they just got me better.
On Braylon Conley...
“Braylon’s a great player. He’s buying into the program. He brought some great things to the team. He’s being more of a communicator now. He didn't really talk much when he got here, but now he's communicating more. You know, the defense, him helping up with the younger guys, and everybody on the team just love him.
On Khalil Barnes...
“He brings a lot of experience and a ot of the snaps at the other school that he was at. He’s physical, he already had that coming in. Great instincts.

“Ball player. He’s still got a lot of work to do. We all still have a lot of work to do. But he’s a great player with ball skills. He plays like me in high school and did a lot of things so I'm just happy for him and happy that he's getting better and trusting his coaches.

“We’re happy that it's starting out. Coach is going to be on us all week. We already know that. We’ve got be on our “A” game because it's not just a regular game. It’s an SEC game and every SEC game is tough. We’ve just got to know that we got to be at our best every day. We can't take anything for granted. He have to practice hard every day and do what the coaches say.
