On working with coach Larry Knight...
“It’s awesome working with Larry. Him being a Georgia guy, he's got a lot of pride in coming back into the state, being from Augusta and stuff. So, you see a lot of pride in that. He always jokes about wanting to play here all that. So it's awesome. He's a really personable dude so it was a real easy transition with him on that.”
On sacks and lack of production last season...
“As far as the sacks and production being extremely diligent as much as we can about, you know, focusing on the finish, with everything that we're doing, and being processed, driven, more so than results, I think it'll all work itself out on that.”
On Josh Horton...
“He's been obsessing about as much as he can, trying to make sure that for him, he can improve as a run defender. He's an athletic kid. We knew about him when he was at Langston Hughes. I think he's done exactly what he needed to, as far as being a new guy coming in immersing himself in the Georgia culture, trying to make sure he can be available when his when his number is called. He's done everything he needed to do there. I'm looking forward to seeing what he does coming up because now he's comfortable. He got the scheme. I'm looking forward to seeing what that ends up showing in the actual games.

On Elijah Griffin...
“Elijah comes to work every day, you know? Good attitude towards work mindset. So it doesn't put any more added pressure on him than than what he already came into. Doing the most simplest things better than his opponent, his competition, and the rest of it will work itself out.
On some younger players who have stood out...
“Nobody has really stood out but they are doing a hell of a job. Working every day, having that marathon mindset, and really trying to focus on the journey instead of the destination. So, that's been fun.
On Gabe Harris handling his injury...
“Gabe is tough, first thing, and extremely resilient, and I think he handled it well. If we didn't protect Gabe from himself, he would have probably done something even more crazier to it. That's one thing you want to see with players. Gabe is looking for a way in, not a way out. So I think I think he's done really good with just leading with his actions, coming to work, and just grinding it out. So he handled it pretty well as well as you could.
On Jordan Hall...
“Jordan's doing good, and one thing I want to point out with Jordan is that I'm proud as heck of him. H just graduated this May and did it in a short amount of time so I'm extremely happy on that. He’s resilient, persistent, and attacking everything really with the with the mindset of how can I improve on this? He loves the game, more so than that, he loves the camaraderie and the connection with the guys, so that's why I keep on coming back. He knows how important it is to be resilient every time you get knocked down, get back up. And with him, now going into his fourth year, he's been really good for some of the rookies just helping them guys.
On Joseph Jonah-Ajonye...
Joe's another one. We’re all looking for Joe to definitely be the first one to take that next step. What is that next step look like? Making a plays that come to you? You know, that's the biggest thing. Not forcing anything, letting it come to you, focusing on your body, you know, when you're not playing with the rehab and stuff and just staying on it. And if things happen, little knickknack things, deal with it head on. Don't run away from it. But we're looking for him to take that next step, for sure. And he's approaching it the right way, too.
On his former players getting big NFL contracts...
“Yeah, I'm proud of all of those guys. I want to add Devonte Wyatt in there, too because all of them were able to get extensions or new contracts. It’s huge, especially with this being so early in their careers. Then reflecting back on just how we even recruited those guys. When Jordan Davis signed here in 2018 and grinded it out, he and Tramel Walthour had a hand in recruiting Travon Walker. He had a hand in recruiting Jalen Carter. Blood could not make some of those guys any closer. To see what Travon has developed into at this moment, and then to hear him say, Coach, I'm nowhere near where I want to be. That's awesome because and it's going to be really helpful for the Jags, too. They did it the hardest way they possibly could while they were at Georgia. I mean, there was no NIL, and I don't think NIL or anything would have changed them, which makes me feel great, too. You know, those guys were a connected unit, and it was awesome to see them grow here.”
On Zykie Helton...
“It was funny because just recruiting him you know he loves the offensive line and I love him playing there. Center, guard, wherever he wants to play. But I always would joke with him about playing some defense and he's open to it. He’s literally one of my favorite players on this team currently because of the way he approached things. Some people don't know some things that he had to battle through in high school and stuff. So to see him have a resilient mindset, with the fire, passion and energy, that allowed him to earn a blue hat during the spring as a rookie. But I would love for him to steal five to 10 snaps, you know? And he could do it, too. He could definitely do it.
On the freshmen...
“Let's start with Carter (Luckie). He’s a legacy, man. It's really important from seeing him with his brother, with his dad and uncles, he’s approaching it the right way. When he and AJ Lonon put that G on their head, they were going to have pride in it. Those guys are talented. If they weren't, I wouldn't have recruited them. So I'm excited to see how they continue to grow through practice six. With PJ Dean, he wanted to follow the lines of what Jared Wilson his older brother kind of created, and so we excited with him on the edge. With Valdin Sone, being from Sweden and being over here, just inserting himself into anything, everything that we have going on. It's been fun with those dudes. They approach it. They’re definitely in the mode of hard work and they come to grind. But it's early in the process, you know? But they are flashing the way they need too.
