There were two major talking points about Georgia’s offense during SEC Media Days this week in Tampa, Florida.
One was the wide receivers. The other was explosiveness.
Which wide receivers are going to step up in 2026? How is the Georgia offense going to be more explosive this fall? That’s what everyone wants to know.
Kirby Smart had no problem talking about being more explosive. However, Smart appeared annoyed when asked about his wide receivers, a group that has to replace its three leading producers from last season.
“The more you question them, the more it helps me motivate them”, Smart said about his receivers. “Everybody says that we don't listen to you guys, but the wide receivers are listening.”

According to FanDuel, the New England Patriots have -215 odds to make the NFL Playoffs next season.
Strait to the point.
Smart doesn’t mind expanding on a question. The dude can talk, especially when there’s a time limit. But his short answer about the wide receivers was telling.
Most “critics” aren’t questioning the talent in that room. Sophomore Talyn Taylor was a five-star prospect. Sophomore CJ Wiley was a borderline five-star himself. There are several others who were highly touted out of high school and hungry to see the field this fall.
The talent is there. The returning production isn’t.
Zachariah Branch won’t be replaced easily. Neither will Colbie Young. Dillon Bell also had a very specific and versatile role that has to be replaced.
Those guys were playmakers. Dependable, big-play weapons who are no longer on the roster. So yes, the question marks around Georgia’s receivers are real. It’s a fair concern when you look at everyone they have to replace.
Still. There’s no excuses. The standard isn’t changing.
We saw what happened in 2024. Consistent drops and missed opportunities. It was an ugly year for the wideouts. Thanks to Zachariah Branch that group improved dramatically last season.
But now it’s back to the drawing board. The doubts are there, but Georgia’s wideouts have a chance to shut the doubters up. That means several Bulldog wideouts need to step up and help bring more explosiveness to the Georgia offense.
Is Talyn Taylor bound for a breakout season? Will Isaiah Canion become a major weapon on the outside? Will CJ Wiley see more opportunities this fall? Can Sacovie White replace Zach Branch in the screen game?
Kirby Smart may not like it, but these are real questions that could determine Georgia’s offense this fall. Apparently, the receivers are listening. They hear the doubters. The hear the noise.
Now it’s time they do something about it.
