ATHENS - It’s been a rough summer for the Georgia Bulldogs on the recruiting trail in the secondary.

The Bulldogs currently hold 17 commitments in the 2027 class with none coming in the defensive backfield. Not a great look as we inch closer to the month of July.

In early May the Dawgs lost 5-star CB Donte Wright‍ to Miami and 4-star CB Jerry Outhouse Jr.‍ who would end up committing to UCLA‍. Recently 4-star CB target Chance Gilbert‍, one of the top prospects in Georgia, committed to Auburn over the in-state Bulldogs earlier this month.

Now it’s being reported by Inside The Gators that 4-star CB Aamaury Fountain‍ from Warner Robins wanted to be a Bulldog but was told he could not commit early in the process by cornerbacks coach Donte Williams. Fountain, now a Florida commit, is ranked as the No. 20 CB prospect and the No. 13 prospect in Georgia.

The Bulldogs also saw major safety target Jayden Aparicio-Bailey‍ commit to Clemson over the weekend.

DON’T FORGET YOUR FANDUEL BETS!!

According to FanDuel, the Atlanta Braves have +1000 odds to win the World Series this fall.

It’s safe to say things have not gone as planned. However, the Bulldogs did sign six defensive backs in the 2026 class, so it’s not an easy pitch to targets in the secondary in this current 2027 cycle.

Still, there are several options out there with commitments coming soon. Here’s where the Bulldogs stand with some of their defensive back targets...

At safety, a name we continue to hear buzz about is four-star Adryan Cole‍. The Douglas County (GA) safety has always been high on Georgia and was in Athens for his big official visit the weekend of June 13th. As a junior last season, Cole made 69 tackles, two TFLs, one INT and several more pass-breakups. He’s ranked as the No. 16 safety and the No. 191 overall prospect in the country. Cole will be making his commitment on July 18th and sources say the Bulldogs are in a favorable position.

Another safety to keep an eye on is four-star Davion Jones‍. A top defender in North Carolina, the 5-foot-11 175-pounder took his official visit to Georgia the weekend of May 29th and will be choosing between Georgia, Auburn, LSU, South Carolina, among others on July 2nd. Ranked as the No. 9 safety prospect in the country, Jones made 50 tackles, four INTs, two forced fumbles, and made one block on special teams.

Then there’s three-star safety, Seth Williams‍. The former Clemson commit at Lakeside (GA) was supposed to commit this week but announced over the weekend that he will be taking more time with his recruitment. Williams was offered by Georgia earlier this summer and is coming off a strong junior season where he made 73 tackles, two INTs, five TFLs, one forced fumble and five pass-breakups.

Staying in the state, Grayson (GA) standout Preston Glasco‍ continues to be someone trending Georgia’s way according to inside sources. The 6-foot-3 180-pound cornerback earned an offer from Georgia earlier this month and took his official visit to Athens two weeks ago. The three-star defender is currently committed to UCONN but could be on Georgia’s commit list if the Dawgs push hard for a flip.
