ATHENS - The Georgia Bulldogs are heading back to Omaha for the first time since 2008.
After winning both the SEC regular season and the conference tournament, the Georgia Bulldogs cruised through the regionals and were able to out-slug Mississippi State in the Supers, stamping their ticket to the College World Series.
After an incredible 13-12 win in game one, the Bulldogs came up clutch again in game two thanks to a go-ahead home run by superstar catcher Dan Jackson in the 10th inning. The Dawgs would close the down in the bottom half and win another thriller in front of the home crowd.
Eight different Bulldogs drove in runs with senior Kolby Branch launching two home runs with Brennan Hudson hitting one as well.
They were one of the best offenses in college baseball this season and proved it again on the biggest stage leading up to the World Series.
The Bulldogs have not won a national championship since 1990, but this 2026 squad may have what it takes to bring another national championship to Athens.
Manager Wes Johnson’s club is rolling, and if the bats stay hot in Omaha, the Dawgs have as good a chance as any to win the title.
