ATHENS - After a big recruiting weekend for Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs, we saw several offers extended to some fast-rising in-state prospects.

New name in the 2027 class to know is Newton (GA) standout, Omarion “Hollywood” Wallace. At 6-foot-2 185-pounds, Wallace is a versatile defensive back who can play both safety and cornerback with an impressive frame and terrific balls skills. The Covington, Georgia native earned a Bulldog offer over the weekend and could eventually rise up higher and high on Georgia’s board this spring and summer.

As a junior last season Wallace made 54 tackles and five INTs in coverage. The Atlanta-area is loaded with talented defensive backs and Wallace is a new one that Bulldog fans need to keep an eye on moving forward.

Up in North Georgia is where you’ll find one of the fastest-rising 2028 prospects in the state. After taking a visit to Georgia last week, Dalton (GA) athlete Franck Atangana left Athens with an offer from the in-state powerhouse.

The speedy multi-sport standout shined in the Dalton secondary last season, proving to be one of the top defenders in the area as a sophomore. At 6-foot-0 160-pounds, Atangana made 48 tackles and one forced fumble while also making play after play on special teams. The promising playmaker blocked two field goals and one punt while recovering two more fumbles.

“I was blessed with the offer with Georgia being such a powerhouse of a team and for their staff to think of someone like me has a chance to play for them I feel honored. I live in Georgia so Georgia football has been a big part of my life growing up. I’m excited that maybe there’s a chance on day I can be part of that program.”

A new 2027 target to keep an eye on in South Georgia is Cairo (GA) pass-rusher Stevan Thornton. A big, explosive EDGE defender who lived in the backfield last season, Thornton has seen his recruitment take off recently with new offers this month from Alabama, Tennessee, Georgia Tech, and now Georgia.

At 6-foot-5 205 pounds, Thornton brings an excellent blend of burst and physicality that allowed him to make an eye-opening 91 tackles, 20 TFLs and eight sacks last season as a junior. He’s one of the fastest-rising prospects in the state and should see his stock rise more and more this spring and summer.
