ATHENS - After the 2025 season, one thing was clear about the Georgia Bulldog defense.
The pass-rush needs to improve.
After recording just 20 sacks last season, Kirby Smart added pass-rush specialist Larry Knight to the staff to coach the outside linebackers in hopes of improving the pass-rush in 2026.
Knight will have a very talented room to work with this spring, but like the other assistants, he’s also working hard on the future. The Bulldogs signed just one defender in the 2026 class in four-star Khamari Brooks, so expect Knight to go all in for several pass-rushers in the current 2027 cycle.
One in-state pass-rusher to keep a close eye on is Stephenson (GA) star, KJ Green. The Stone Mountain native is one of the top overall defenders across the South. The 6-foot-4 210-pounder is a long, athletic pass-rusher who made 100 tackles last season as a junior with 37 TFLs and an impressive 17 sacks.
The four-star prospect was inn town for the Texas game and had a lot to say after Georgia’s dominant win over the Horns.
“My favorite part of the game was the onside kick after they scored”, Green told Dawg Post. “It was monumental to let them know this ass whooping ain’t over. We’re going for the kill.”
Several other schools are pushing hard for Green, but the Dawgs have a chance to win him over this spring and summer once an official visit is completely locked in.
“I’ll be down in Athens in April to get and build a connection with coach Knight before my official visit.”
Green is currently ranked as the No. 6 EDGE defender and the No. 41 overall prospect in the country for the 2027 class.
DON’T FORGET YOUR FANDUEL BETS!!
According to FanDuel, the Georgia Bulldogs are 5.5-point favorites over the Ole Miss Rebels in the 2026 SEC tournament.
Another EDGE defender to know about is Germany native, Marvin Nguetsop. The big 6-foot-7 270-pounder has been on Georgia’s radar for a long time now and earned an offer from the Bulldogs back on June 10th, 2025.
A member of PPI recruits, a program helping international prospects with their recruitment, Nguetsop is very familiar with two current Bulldogs, JJ Hanne and Valdin Sone, who also came from the international PPI program.
Nguetsop told Dawg Post he’s still very high on Georgia and has plans to be back in Athens very soon.
“Georgia is definitely a team high on my list and I’ll be there for a visit on March 19th. My official visit is probably will be set in the next couple of weeks.”
Playing at the St. Thomas More School in Connecticut, Nguetsop is a raw, but talented defender with impressive size, length, and natural athleticism for his size. He plays hard, shows lots of potential, and will only get better the more he plays. He’s a pass-rusher on the rise that Georgia fans need to remember moving forward.
