ATHENS - One of Georgia’s biggest breakout defenders last year had to be cornerback Ellis Robinson.

As a sophomore Robinson dealt with some growing pains early in the season, but the former five-star prospect improved week by week as the season progressed. By the end of the year, Robinson was playing like one of the best cornerbacks in the SEC.

Robinson started 11 games last season making 20 tackles with four INTs and seven more pass-breakups.

Here’s what Robinson told Dawg Post about his big sophomore season during Sugar Bowl media day in New Orleans...

On the the biggest improvement in his game from week one...

“Just getting more reps has allowed me to improve week by week. I still really just growing a lot as a player. I felt like the game slowed down some for me throughout the season.”

On the importance of tackling...

“Being able to make a big tackle is so important. Especially here at Georgia. Tackling is emphasized every day. We do all types of drills to help us improve. Doing the little stuff too goes a long way.”

On his message to recruits...

“You’ve got to be real with them. You have to be real about how practice is here and how it goes. Everything we do here is about the work. You have to work for everything and do it every single day.”

DON’T FORGET YOUR FANDUEL BETS!!

According to FanDuel, Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba has -110 odds to score a touchdown during the Super Bowl.

On the importance of mental toughness...

“Playing corner, you know, is tough. You know, you always have to have the next play mentality, then you can't be worried about what happened, previous plays, it can mess around for like other plays. So it's like really just having that focus on, just next player mentality, every player, really.”

On trash talk...

“I feel like if you're not going to talk to me or anything, I'm not going to say nothing to you. So I don't really talk that much unless somebody says something. But I’ll get back at them if someone’s coming my way.”

On the big INT against Georgia Tech...

“It was a straight up man-to-man call. I was just playing off, and I was just reading wherever he was going. Once I saw the ball in the air I knew I had to go get it. So I went and got it.”
