ATHENS - As you know by now, Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs once again signed an outstanding recruiting class in the 2026 cycle.

The Dawgs went hard in the trenches, loaded up in the state, landed three more tight ends, and signed several promising defensive backs.

After signing three outstanding EDGE defenders in last year’s 2025 class, assistant coach Chidera Uzo-Diribe had eyes on just one in this year’s class.

That would be local defender, Khamari Brooks‍.

The 6-foot-3 235-pound EDGE defender was a local target out of North Oconee who decided to stay home and play for the Dawgs. Before suffering a season-ending injury, Brooks was able to make 56 tackles, 20 QB hurries, six sacks, five TFLs, and two pass-breakups on defense for the Titans in 2025. At tight end, Brooks caught 12 passes for 246 yards and four touchdowns.

According to FanDuel, the Los Angeles Rams have +320 odds of winning the Super Bowl this season.

“Khamari’s a local kid and a legacy, so playing at the University of Georgia means something. You see on his high school tape that a lot of what he did at North Oconee will be stuff he’s asked to do here. He can play on the line of scrimmage. Play in space. He has rush ability. Those are some traits that attracted us to him. Him being close to home also made it sweet.”

As good as he is, Brooks has plenty of talent in front of him on the depth chart.

Veteran starter Gabe Harris is back for the 2026 season, Quintavius Johnson is expected to make a big jump in year three, and the Bulldogs added talented pass-rusher Amaris Williams out of the transfer portal from Auburn.

Then you have Georgia’s trio from the 2025 class. Isiah Gibson, Darren Ikinnagbon, and Chase Linton. All three are young, talented defenders on the edge who should continue to progress in year two.

There’s a lot of talent in that room. Now, it’s time for more production. And while he may not play a ton early, true freshman Khamari Brooks is clearly one to watch over time.
