ATHENS - Kirby Smart and his staff have been on a roll in the transfer portal on Thursday afternoon as the Georgia Bulldogs have their third transfer commitment of the day in a former edge rusher from Auburn.

Amaris Williams is a former 5-star prospect from the 2024 recruiting class, and was one of the top players from North Carolina in that cycle. As a sophomore this past season, he totaled 14 tackles and sacked the quarterback twice. He was a part of a defensive line rotation for Auburn that was considered to be one of the best in the country in 2025.

Georgia’s front seven took a step back this season. Losing Jalon Walker, Mykel Williams and Chaz Chambliss, among others made it a difficult task to replace sack and pressure production. That became even more improbable when former 5-star and promising player Damon Wilson left in the transfer portal for Missouri.

After Georgia struggled to affect the quarterback, especially in the first half of the 2025 season, Smart and the staff in Athens have made their first splash in trying to remedy and improve that for 2026. Williams, The speedy edge rusher stands at 6’2” and about 260 pounds. He will likely get to go into Athens and compete for a starting job among a young defensive line.
