ATHENS - After landing former Clemson Tiger safety Khalil Barnes, Kirby Smart and UGA Football have landed another playmaking safety out of the transfer portal.

This time it’s East Carolina standout, Ja’Marley Riddle.

Like Barnes, Riddle is an experienced defender originally from Georgia who decided to make his way back to the Peach State to end his career. A former Camden County standout, Riddle has been terrific through his first two seasons at East Carolina, making 70 tackles and three INTs last year to go along with six pass-breakups. Over his two-year career, starting since he was a freshman, the playmking safety made 133 total tackles, 10 pass deflections, and six INTs.

A multi-sport standout in high school, Riddle is a 6-foot-0 185-pounder with an nose for the football. He shows good instincts in coverage, dependable ball skills, and is a sure-tackler against the run. He’s put on good muscle mass over the years and should bring more physicality and playmaking ability to the Georgia secondary.

It’s clear Georgia wanted to add more depth in the secondary, and now they’ve added to players through the portal who brings plenty of experience and productivity.
