ATHENS - The postseason transfer frenzy has hit Georgia Bulldogs just a day after the Dawgs lost to Ole Miss in the Sugar Bowl.

Cornerback Daniel Harris left earlier in December, but now two more players have announced their departure: running back Roderick Robinson II and defensive lineman Jordan Thomas are both out the door. There was expected to be moving pieces for Kirby Smart and his staff to deal with this offseason. So far, none of the players that are potentially leaving the program are starters or really in the rotation, so there hasn’t been a huge blow to the starting lineup.

The redshirt sophomore Robinson II will be testing the waters in the transfer portal after three seasons at Georgia that were defined by injuries. Robinson II was a part of the 2023 recruiting class for Georgia and looked like he was going to be a big contributor in 2024 after looking the part in spot snaps as a true freshman. He was largely thought to be the second back behind Trevor Etienne heading into the season last year, but a turf toe injury sidelined him for the majority of the season.

He then dealt with ankle issues after that. Over the last two seasons, he carried the ball just 10 times. Robinson II was a surprise contributor in the SEC Championship last month, when he caught a touchdown pass at the goal line.

Thomas did not crack the defensive line rotation during his two years in Athens. He was ranked as a four-star defensive lineman in the 2024 recruiting cycle. He was considered a top-100 player in the 2024 class and one of the best players out of the state of New Jersey.
