UGA Football's Kirby Smart Give Injury Updates for Bulldogs Heading into Sugar Bowl
ATHENS - UGA Football coach Kirby Smart gave an injury update Monday for the No. 3 Bulldogs as they get set to take on the No. 6 Ole Miss Rebels in the College Football Playoff Quarterfinal at the Sugar Bowl in New Orleans New Year’s Night.
Like most teams in the playoff, the Bulldogs have been dealing with numerous injuries heading into New Year’s.
UGA is required by CFP mandate to give an official injury update to the media on Monday, December 29, 2025 at 8:10 PM EST regarding the status of injured players. According to the CFP policy, schools participating in the Playoff will be required to submit availability reports by 8 PM EST three days prior to each Playoff game. Those reports will be made public ten minutes later.
Here are the updates Kirby provided Monday.
OL Drew Bobo and WR Colbie Young: “I am optimistic we will get both of those guys back. We are hopeful to get those guys back. We had guys dinged up from the practices we have had, too”
LB Gabe Harris: “He is dealing with a little bit of a turf toe. We are hopeful to have him available.”
DB Joenel Aguero: “He’s trying to get healthy and make himself avalible.”
Kirby added that he couldn’t talk about some players because of the amount of time before the game:
“I am not going to be able to answer all of them because I don't know. We are still ten days away,” he said.
I am not going to be able to answer all of them because I don't know. We are still ten days away.
Ole Miss is dealing with injury problems of their own. The Rebels’ biggest concern is the status of RB Kewan Lacy. After the Rebels’ lopsided win over Tulane, Ole Miss head coach Pete Golding said Lacy has a bruised shoulder, and that the injury will be evaluated further.
