ATLANTA - For the fifth consecutive season, Kirby Smart will be coaching the Georgia Bulldogs in the SEC Championship game.
The Bulldogs clinched a spot on Friday night after the Texas Longhorns defeated the Texas A&M Aggies in Austin.
The Bulldogs won the SEC crown last season after beating the Texas Longhorns 22-19 in overtime. They have appeared in the SEC Championship game now eight times through Kirby Smart’s first ten season.
Georgia’s opponent next weekend will be Alabama if the Crimson Tide can take down the Auburn Tigers on Saturday night. If Alabama falls, Georgia will take on Ole Miss for this year’s SEC title.
On Friday night, the Georgia Bulldogs defeated rival Georgia Tech 16-9 in Mercedes-Benz Stadium. Led by outstanding defense and excellent play from running back Nate Frazier, the Bulldogs were able to defeat their in-state rival for the eighth consecutive season.
