Former UGA Football Star Matthew Stafford Reaches Another NFL Milestone

ATHENS, Ga. – The 2025 NFL season kicked off over the weekend, with a total of 48 former Georgia Bulldogs suiting up for their respective clubs.
Matthew Stafford eclipsed another major milestone. He became just the 10th quarterback in NFL history to surpass 60,000 career passing yards. Stafford’s 245 passing yards and one touchdown lifted the Rams over the Houston Texans in the win as well.
Former Bulldogs made an impact around the league, as five different players recorded nine total tackles or more. Meanwhile, Kamari Lassiter, Roquan Smith, and Tykee Smith led their respective teams in tackles. Tykee Smith’s 11 tackles against the Falcons tied a career high and ranked second among defensive backs in the NFL.

Philadelphia Eagles 24, Dallas Cowboys 20
Jordan Davis, DT – Started at defensive tackle for Philadelphia, totaling six tackles, one tackle for loss and one pass defensed.
Nolan Smith Jr. OLB – Appeared on over 80 percent of defensive snaps for the Eagles, racking up four tackles.
