ATHENS - UGA football’s season opener against the Marshall Thundering Herd kickoff a big opening Saturday of the college football season. Kirby Smart’s Bulldogs are ranked No. 5 in the country headed into the matchup with Marshall.
The Bulldogs don’t have a huge opener this season for the first time since 2023. Georgia has faced Clemson twice and Oregon once in three of the last four seasons. Georgia has not dropped a season opener in football since 2013; it has not lost a season opener in Athens since 1996.
