ATHENS - A UGA football offensive lineman was arrested last Wednesday on three drug related charges, including one classified as a felony.
Jahzare Jackson, the sophomore offensive lineman, was charged with felony possession of marijauna of over one ounce. He was also charged with possession or use of drug related objects.
Kirby Smart, the athletic department and the university have a decision to make on Jackson now regarding his status with the school and the team. The university has made no comment other than the institution being aware of the arrest.
The Georgia football program has dealt with several driving related incidents and arrests. The most recent cases involved wide receiver Nitro Tuggle and offensive lineman Marques Easley. Both of them left the team through the transfer portal just weeks after their arrests and indefinite suspensions from the team.
Jackson is projected to be a reserve offensive lineman for Georgia this season. He is the biggest player on the team, standing at 6’10”. The former basketball player has made strides in the program and was going to be given an opportunity to crack the Dawgs’ offensive line rotation this season.
Within two weeks of the first day of fall camp, Smart has to deal with a non-football issue regarding one of his players.
