DESTIN, FL - While all the “experts” across college football are questioning UGA football quarterback Gunner Stockton this off-season, there’s one man who feels the complete opposite.

That’s Kirby Smart.

The Georgia Bulldog head coach is in Destin this week for SEC Spring Meetings and thanked ESPN’s Paul Finebaum for his ridiculous comments this week about Gunner Stockton.

“I appreciate all your questioning of it,” Smart said. “It just gives me a little extra.”

That was in reference to Finebaum saying “Georgia will not be fine with Gunner Stockton. I know the team rallied around him during the SEC Championship game but I was underwhelmed with what I saw from Gunner Stockton in the Sugar Bowl loss to Notre Dame.”

DON’T FORGET YOUR FANDUEL BETS!!

According to FanDuel, Scottie Scheffler has +280 odds to win the Memorial Tournament this weekend.

First off, Paul Finebaum clearly didn’t watch the Sugar Bowl. Gunner Stockton didn’t play nearly as bad as people think. The offense struggled, but that’s due to poor offensive line play, zero running game, and more dropped passes from the receivers. Don’t forget the walk-on who helped erase Stockton’s best pass of the day.

But Kirby Smart doesn’t mind. He laughed and seemed extremely confident in his quarterback when speaking with Finebaum later that day.

“I’m excited. Gunner got the message,” Smart said smiling. “You did your job. I love the fact that you give me motivation.”

It’s clear Smart, Stockton, and the rest of the 2025 Georgia Bulldogs have all the ammunition they need. They don’t have to look hard for motivation.

The rest of college football may not believe in Gunner Stockton, but Kirby Smart does. They may not believe in Mike Bobo, either. But Kirby Smart does. They may not believe in Georgia’s defense, but Kirby Smart does.

Smart has major issues with the transfer portal, but it doesn’t seem like he has an issue with his quarterback.

And for the rest of you who were “underwhelmed” with Stockton’s performance against Notre Dame, I’d suggest you go back and watch that game a little closer. You might come out believing in Gunner Stockton.
