UGA Baseball Takes Series from A&M | Dawgs No. 5 Seed in SEC Baseball Tournament
ATHENS - No. 4 Georgia Baseball will be the fifth seed in the upcoming SEC Baseball Tournament and play its opening game on Wednesday at approximately 2 pm ET at the Hoover (Ala.) Metropolitan Complex.
The Bulldogs (42-14, 18-12 SEC), now in their second season under Ike Cousins head baseball coach Wes Johnson, earned a first round bye with their top eight finish in league play. Georgia will face the Oklahoma-Kentucky winner as they square off in the opening round on Tuesday. Teams are seeded based on winning percentage in regular season conference competition. The winner of the Georgia/OU-UK game would face No. 4 seed Vanderbilt on Thursday night, exact time TBD.
Georgia claimed both series over the Sooners and Wildcats, winning two games to one at Foley Field. OU is the 12th seed with a 14-16 league mark while Kentucky is the No. 13 seed after going 13-17 in the SEC.
Georgia's tournament opener will be 30 minutes after the conclusion of Wednesday's first game of the day that starts at 10:30 a.m. ET. The 2025 SEC Tournament format is single elimination. Games one through 14 will air on SEC Network with Sunday's championship to be featured on ESPN2.
The Bulldogs will be making their 30th appearance at the SEC Tournament where they are 31-51. Georgia's best finish at the event has been second three times. The Bulldogs' last win at the tournament came in 2021 when they posted a 1-2 mark. The past three seasons Georgia has dropped its opening game.
Meanwhile, the 2025 NCAA Tournament field of 64 will be announced on Memorial Day, May 26. With its overall record, league finish, RPI and strength of schedule, the Bulldogs are in position to again be a top eight national seed for the second consecutive year.
