ATHENS - If there’s one defensive lineman Georgia Bulldog head coach Kirby Smart needs to step up in 2025, you could make the case that it’s defensive lineman, Jordan Hall.

An elite defensive tackle out of high school, expectations were high for Hall from the second he got to campus two years ago. Unfortunately, Hall has dealt with multiple injuries that has kept him from becoming a consistent contributor so far in his career.

Hall barely saw the field last fall after a second leg injury that he’s still not 100% back from. Still, Hall is working hard to fight back and get as healthy as he can not only for himself, but for his teammates.

“I would not say I’m 100% yet but I am better than before so that’s a plus”, Hall told reporters this week. “I’d say I’m at 75-80%. I’m just trying to work my way back up. At Georgia, you are never going to be 100% though so it really does not matter.”

Kirby Smart also shared a quick update on his promising defensive lineman.

“Jordan is, I don't know if I'd say completely back. I mean, I feel like he's completely back. He might not feel like that. He would say he's still, you know, banged up and bruised up and getting used to the gauntlet of practice, the good thing about spring, he gets a day off in between to recover, but he's looking much better and much more healthy. He had his pins taken out, screws taken out, so he's practiced much better so far this spring than he did at the finish of last year, and we need him to be an integral part of leadership on this team.”

The leadership point is key. Hall is a tough, hard-working defender with a positive vibe. He’s a natural leader, but you can only lead so much vocally. The Bulldogs are looking for leaders, especially on defense, and there are a lot of eyes that will be looking in Hall’s direction.

The Bulldogs need Hall to be the player they recruited out of high school. When healthy, he has the potential to be a game-changer, and that’s exactly what Georgia needs. You can’t win without bullies on the defensive line, and Hall could be a major difference maker if he can get to full strength.

If Hall is healthy come September, look for him to have a monster year on the field and one of the team’s biggest leaders off of it.
