ATHENS - UGA Football will get a major boost to its receivers heading into spring 2025.
Colbie Young is back with the Bulldogs, UGA football coach Kirby Smart told reporters on Tuesday.
“Colbie Young is with us,” Kirby said. “He is cleared.”
The return of Young to UGA will bolster a receiver group that has been retooled since the Bulldogs’ loss to Notre Dame at the Sugar Bowl in January. UGA got two transfer WRs recently: Zachariah Branch (USC) and Noah Thomas (A&M). The addition of Young means the Bulldogs have added three playmakers at WR they didn’t have at the end of the 2024 season.
“I am excited about both of those guys. They have both been successful where they have been. Both of those guys are high-caliber athletes and high-caliber people,” Kirby said of the two transfer receivers. “Noah has played in the SEC and been successful. You still have to go out and do it.”
Young reached a plea deal with Solicitor's Office in Athens-Clarke County in late January. Young had been under investigation in a domestic violence case involving a former girlfriend. Young was arrested in Athens on Oct. 8 after playing in the first five games of the season for Georgia. He transferred from Miami, and the 2024 season was his first as a Bulldog
