ATHENS - Who is the best player on the 2025 Georgia Bulldog roster?
It’s an interesting question because it’s 100% up for the debate.
Last year it was a little easier to answer. Defensively, Mykel Williams, Malaki Starks, and Jalon Walker were clearly the “best players” on that side of the ball. On offense you’d have to say it was either Carson Beck or incoming transfer running back Trevor Etienne. That is, if we’re not counting any of the offensive linemen.
But now it’s a tough question to answer. Let’s see if we can talk it out and come to a conclusion.
Let’s start with the offense. One player in contention is incoming transfer Zachariah Branch. One of the fastest and most explosive players in college football, Branch is a dynamic pass-catcher who can also make a big impact on special teams as a kick and punt returner. He has enough speed to score on any particular play and could be an easy go-to option for Gunner Stockton next fall. He’s a hell of a player and could absolutely be the best player on Georgia’s roster.
Then there’s Nate Frazier. The team’s leading rusher from last season, Frazier is expected to have a giant sophomore season in the fall after rushing for 671 yards and 8 TDs last season. He’s a 200+ pound back with impressive speed, burst, and big-play ability. It wouldn’t be surprising at all if it turns out that Frazier is the best overall football player on the roster.
Is it too early to put Gunner Stockton in the conversation? Probably. But if he can get a little more held from the offensive line and can lean on an improved rushing attack, don’t be surprised if he looks like one of the teams best players as the 2025 season moves along.

According to FanDuel, the New York Knicks have +1500 odds to win the 2025 NFL Finals this summer.
Defensively, keep an eye on linebacker Raylen Wilson. With Jalon Walker and Smael Mondon off to the NFL, look for Wilson to have that “breakout” type of season next fall. He runs extremely well at 6-foot-1 235-pounds and is coming off a strong sophomore season where he played in all 14 games, making 47 tackles, seven TFLs, and 1.5 sacks on the season. His best football is still to come, and he has a chance to have a monster junior season now that he’s expected to be in a starters role. He may not be the best player on the roster this second, but he certainly has the potential to be.
If we’re talking about Wilson, it’s only fair to talk about CJ Allen. A tough, hard-nosed inside linebacker who started 12 games last fall, Allen is one of Georgia’s top returning defenders and will be one of the faces of the program in 2025. As a sophomore last season, the dependable linebacker made 76 tackles with five QB hits and four pass-breakups in coverage.
Then there’s KJ Bolden. The former 5-star prospect was thrown into the fire last fall as a freshman and more than held his own, playing better and better throughout the season. The promising safety is coming off an impressive first season for the Bulldogs where he made 59 tackles, two TFLs, one sack, and one INT, earning SEC All-Freshman Team honors. Look for Bolden to have a giant sophomore season and show why he’s one of the top young defensive backs in all of college football. As young as he is, Bolden is easily one of the best pure football players on the roster right now.
