ATHENS - Georgia Bulldog assistant coach Josh Crawford is under some serious pressure.

After signing just one running back in the 2025 class, Kirby Smart and Crawford need to land at least one, but preferably two elite running backs in the current 2026 cycle.

They’re going after the best of the best, and several of the nation’s top running back prospects have already scheduled their official visits to Georgia.

Here’s a look at when some of their top running back targets will be in town for their all-important official visits.

First there’s top-ranked running back, Savion Hiter‍. The 6-foot-0 190-pounder our of Louisa County (VA) is no stranger to Athens and has been a major Bulldog target from the very beginning. Ranked as the No. 21 overall prospect in the country, Hiter will be back in Athens for a big official visit the weekend of June 6th. Sources say the Michigan Wolverines have been the team to beat behind the scenes for months now but the Bulldogs have done a great job of maintaining their position towards the top of his recruitment.

Hiter also has official visits planned to Ohio State (May 30th), Michigan (June 16th), and Tennessee (June 20th). The Georgia staff is doing everything they can to land the speedy, tackle-breaking back but they’ll have to fight off those other three programs to land his commitment.

“UGA is called RBU for a reason”, Hiter told Dawg Post. “I could definitely see myself in that offense and being developed for the next level! They’ve had much success there so who wouldn’t want to be part of a program like that. Also, Coach Crawford, Coach Smart and the staff really and I have built a good relationship.”

DON’T FORGET YOUR FANDUEL BETS!!

According to FanDuel, Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders has +750 odds to be the 1st overall pick in April’s 2025 NFL Draft.

Then there’s high four-star Derrek Cooper. An elite athlete who can play all over the field, Georgia’s recruiting him to be a versatile running back who can also help in the passing game. The South Florida native ran for 905 yards and 13 touchdowns last season and is ranked as the No. 2 RB and the No. 23 overall prospect in the country for the 2026 class. Right now, sources say the local Miami Hurricanes are likely Georgia’s biggest competition. Still, Cooper and his family have been high on Georgia from the beginning and will be back in Athens for a big official visit the weekend of June 13th. The 6-foot-1 190-pounder out of Chaminade-Prep (FL) is someone Georgia fans should keep a close eye on.

Another out-of-state back to know about is four-star Ezavier Crowell‍. A former 5star in the 2027 class out of Jackson (AL), Crowell recent reclassified to the 2026 class and is interested in checking out Georgia both this spring and in the summer for an official visit.

“Georgia’s recruiting me hard and I’ll be up at a spring practice march 22nd and my official visit is scheduled for the weekend of May 30.”

As a sophomore last season, the 5-foot-11 200-pounder ran for 1,964 yards and 31 touchdowns. He’s ranked as the No. 8 RB prospect and the No. 86 overall prospect in the country for the 2026 class. Right now, sources say this is shaping up to be an in-state battle between Alabama and Auburn. However, things could change with a successful official visit to Georgia to kick the summer off in late May.
