ATHENS - UGA Football’s matchup with Georgia Tech, known as Clean Old Fashioned Hate, will take place on Friday night for the second season in a row.

The move was announced during the ACC”s schedule reveal on ESPN2 Monday night. The move is not a surprise. Disney, which owns ESPN, now has the contract for both Tech and UGA home games. That means the company can put the game on ABC each year, which was not permitted under the contract the SEC had with CBS since 1996.

Disney saw the 2024 of Clean Old Fashioned Hate skyrocket in viewership - 8.5 million tuned in for the Dawgs’ eight overtime win over the Jackets. It was the 15th most-watched game in the regular season last year. It is the most-watched UGA-Tech game in history.

The game will be played in Atlanta, with the Yellow Jackets “hosting” Georgia at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in an arrangement the AJC reported is paying the Tech $10 million for the right to host the game and distribute tickets.

"We always enjoy playing in a first-class venue like Mercedes-Benz Stadium," UGA Director of Athletics Josh Brooks said in October. "This move will only enhance the long-standing tradition of the Georgia-Georgia Tech game and will provide another outstanding event for our fans."

It is the first time since 1912 that Clean Old Fashioned Hate will not be played on campus.
