ATHENS - Oscar Delp is the latest UGA Football player to announce his decision on the 2025 season, and he has opted to return to Georgia for another year.

Delp announced his decision via social media on Tuesday. This is another win in the last few days for Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs, as Delp is another junior that is returning.

Many thought Delp was an NFL candidate ahead of the season, but he has decided to return for his senior year after a 2024 season that cannot be categorized as anything other than at least a little disappointing. It was disappointing for the program as a whole, and Delp was directly affected by the team and the offense’s woes.

Delp finished the 2024 season with fewer catches and yards than he did in 2023. He hauled in 21 passes for four touchdowns en route to 248 yards. Sophomore Lawson Luckie emerged as the primary tight end target earlier in the season and ended up with more catches and yards than his junior counterpart.

Georgia’s tight end room benefitted the last few seasons from having Brock Bowers, who has already become arguably the best tight end in the NFL after just one season. Having Darnell Washington around helped.

Delp was projected to take a leap forward and become a primary target in Georgia’s passing game in 2024, but Georgia’s offense struggled as a whole, and Luckie was Carson Beck’s go-to tight end early in the season, if you can even call him that.

Delp heated up in November. He snagged two touchdowns from Beck in a top-10 matchup against Tennnesee in Athens and scored again the following week against UMass.  He also made a couple of huge plays in Georgia’s overtime win over Texas in the SEC title game.

He will now look to have a better season in 2025 to position himself for the 2026 NFL Draft. Gunner Stockton is the likely starting quarterback for Georgia at the moment, and Stockton is one of his roommates, so the two are close.
