ATHENS - UGA Football quarterback Carson Beck plans to enter the NCAA transfer portal after originally entering the 2025 NFL Draft.
According to a report from Pete Nakos of On3, Beck will now opt out of the draft and test the waters in the transfer portal to play a final season of college football elsewhere.
Beck likely did not receive a favorable draft grade due to his injury and a season where he did not meet expectations. Kirby Smart and the Georgia program has seemingly moved on to Gunner Stockton at this point, so Beck will now look to the portal after opting out of the draft.
Beck was part of the 2020 recruiting class for Georgia and waited four seasons for his turn to be the starting quarterback. He sat behind Stetson Bennett, JT Daniels and D’wan Mathis before getting the starting nod a few weeks before the opening of the 2023 season.
He returned to Georgia in 2024 with the hopes of winning a national championship and SEC Championship as the starting quarterback. He also was hyped up in the preseason as the potential top pick in the upcoming NFL draft.

Those plans were all changed in 2024 after a rough stint in the middle of the season that featured 12 interceptions in a five-game stretch.
He eventually got through that, but everything changed when he suffered an injury to his ulnar collateral ligament in the elbow of his throwing shoulder on the last play of the first half of the SEC Championship game. Beck ultimately returned for the final play of the conference championship to deliver the game-winning handoff to Trevor Etienne after being ruled out initially.
After the game, he eventually decided to have surgery and eventually declare for the 2025 NFL Draft. Just a few weeks later, his decision has seemingly changed, and he now plans to return for a sixth year of college football.
Beck finished his Georgia career with 7,912 passing yards and 58 touchdowns against 20 interceptions. He started 27 games for Georgia, and ended up 24-3 as the starting quarterback.
