ATHENS - UGA Football RB Trevor Etienne missed the Bulldogs’ game with Georgia Tech on Friday night, and Kirby Smart was asked about his status heading into the SEC Championship Game against the Texas Longhorns.

“Trevor’s a ways away,” Kirby told reporters Sunday night. “I still don’t know because we haven’t even seen those guys. He wasn’t really close to playing last week. I don’t know how that’s going to play out.”

Etienne did not dress for warm ups against the Yellow Jackets and has not played since the Bulldogs’ loss at Ole Miss in early November. Etienne has not carried the ball more than ten times in a game since the Dawgs last played the Horns - a 30-15 win over No. 1 Texas in Austin on October 19.

He carried the ball 19 times for 87 yards and three touchdowns against Texas that night - his most productive game as a Bulldog. In all, Etienne only has 95 carries and has been slowed significantly by a rib injury that limited his play against his former team Florida the first weekend of November.

Freshman Nate Frazier leads the Bulldogs in rushing yards with 587. He has scored eight touchdowns, and had the game-winning score in Georgia’s eight-overtime win over the Yellow Jackets Friday night.
