ATHENS - Kirby Smart and UGA Football were ranked No. 7 in the 3rd College Football Playoff Committee rankings of the year Tuesday night.
The Bulldogs are ranked No. 6 in both the Coaches’ and AP Poll this week. Kirby Smart’s 9-2 Bulldogs are coming off a blowout win over UMass Saturday afternoon at Sanford Stadium in Athens. The Dawgs take on the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets in Sanford Stadium Friday night on ABC at 7:30.
The Bulldogs have wins over No. 12 Clemson, No. 3 Texas and No. 8 Tennessee. UGA also has a loss to No. 13 Alabama and No. 14 Ole Miss. All of those games combined means the Dawgs have played the most-difficult schedule in college football this season.
Georgia will take on the winner of the Texas-Texas A&M game in Atlanta in the Southeastern Conference Championship Game on December 7th at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. The winner of that game is mandated to play in the College Football Playoff Quarterfinal at the 91st Sugar Bowl in New Orleans at Caesars Superdome with a kickoff at 8:45 PM EST on ESPN. That game will be the final quarterfinal of the season.
