UGA Football Will Reportedly Be Missing One of Its Offensive Weapons Against Alabama

ATHENS -  UGA Football wide receiver London Humphreys will miss the Alabama game this Saturday due to mononucleosis, reported by Dawgs 247.

Kirby Smart did not give any official indication of this during either of his press conferences with the local media, so the SEC Student-Athlete Availability Report will likely note this. There is not a clear timeline for return for the transfer wide receiver.

Humphreys, the former Vanderbilt speedster, made an immediate impact to kickoff his Georgia career. He caught two passes against Clemson. of the field in which he turned the corner and converted the first down. The other was an impressive 40-yard touchdown reception in which he barrelled into a defender on his way to the endzone.

Since the Clemson game, it has been quiet. He did not record a catch against Tennessee Tech or up in Lexington last week against Kentucky. 

Earlier this season, Smart essentially said that he is a reserve for starting receiver Arian Smith. 

“He does a good job. He's probably more in relief for Arian [Smith], and he did a good job. He's got SEC experience, Smart said. “I think that's what, you know, the portal provides you to go get a guy that's been successful and played well in our conference. He's done that. He's proven himself as a guy that can make plays, and he was ready when his number was called.”

Georgia’s offense stalled in its last game against the Wildcats, and now it will be missing a receiver for the top-5 showdown. Georgia has plenty of weapons for Carson Beck to dish the ball out to, so this is not a huge blow, but he has already proven he can make big plays against big opponents.
