Massive Audience Watches UGA Football's One-Point Win over Kentucky Wildcats

ATHENS - UGA Football’s narrow one-point win over Kentucky was the most-watched football game of the weekend. Kirby Smart’s Bulldogs have proven to be a winner for TV networks again.

Disney said the Bulldogs’ road win had 6.7 million viewers in primetime - with an audience peak of 9 million viewers. The network said that its triple header on ABC had three of the top four games of the weekend with South Carolina-LSU (5.3 M) and A&M-Florida (5.1 M) also delivering strong numbers.

UGA-UK stands as the 5th most-watched game of the season so far. Georiga has played in two of the five most-watched games of the year to this date. Georgia-Alabama, which will be broadcast by ABC in two weekends, is expected to make a strong push to have over 10 million viewers, which has been rare for college football since COVID. 

The 2024 version of this game is the most-watched in series history - topping the previous high, which was CBS’s broadcast of the 2021 between two undefeated SEC squads that October (6.4 M). The last time Georgia traveled to Kentucky the game was watched by 4.5 million viewers on CBS. 

So far in 2024, Georgia has played two games on broadcast TV. The Bulldogs have been watched by a total of 14.3 million viewers so far this year. Big games against top-ten ranked Alabama, Texas, Ole Miss and Tennessee dot the schedule as do the usual TV staples for the Bulldogs with the Gators, Auburn and Georgia Tech. The date with the Jackets has a special primetime slot on Black Friday opposite Nebraska at Iowa on NBC and Utah at UCF on FOX.
