ATHENS - UGA Football coach Kirby Smart gave an update on Mykel Williams on Monday.
“Mykel has ankle sprain. It is a grade two sprain, but it is stable. He will be week to week,” Kirby Smart told reporters Monday. “Probably questionable this week, but it is not going to be a long term ankle (problem). We will see.”
Williams was injured when Clemson RB Phil Mafah hit Williams in pass protection with Clemson threatening in the third quarter. Mafah was flagged on the play, but Georgia decided the penalty to force Clemson to attempt a FG. It was the only Clemson score of the game.
UGA DB Maliki Starks motioned for UGA’s medical staff to help Williams. After getting help from Starks, Williams stood up and walked on his own power after taking a moment after being hurt on the turf. He was seen by UGA’s medical staff moments later.

Kirby told reporters after the game that Williams had gotten the injury looked at.
“And Mykel's X-rays, they looked good, but I've seen that before, so we've got to go check it when we get home and see,” he said.
Williams is one of the top NFL Draft prospects in college football. Both of his tackles against Clemson were behind the line of scrimmage - costing the Tigers eight total yards during No. 1 UGA’s 34-3 win over No. 14 Clemson.
Georgia plays Tennessee Tech Saturday in Athens at 2 PM. The game is streaming exclusive. Here is how to watch.
