ATHENS - Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs have made the “Top 5” for one of the best running back prospects in the country.

Woodberry Forest (VA) superstar, Savion Hiter‍.

A speedy back who runs with power at 6-foot-0 200-pounds, Hiter is one of Georgia’s top running backs in the 2026 class and recently released his “Top 5”.

The Georgia Bulldogs made the cut, along with Michigan, Ohio State, Penn State, and Tennessee.

Why did Georgia make the cut? Hiter broke his reasoning down with Dawg Post.

UGA is called RBU for a reason” Hiter said. “I could definitely see myself in that offense and being developed for the next level! They’ve had much success there so who wouldn’t want to be part of a program like that. Also, Coach Crawford, Coach Smart and the staff really and I have built a good relationship. They won back to back titles recently so obviously the program is successful! Everything is elite with UGA.”

According to FanDuel, the Dallas Cowboys have +175 odds to win the NFC East upcoming season.

The elite running back from Virginia was in Athens for a spring visit back in March and was impressed with the way Georgia practiced and went about their visit.

“Practice was very fast-paced and it looked like every single player was getting reps and getting coached up”, Hiter added. “It was crazy how Coach Smart was in the middle of the field but was still was able to notice everything during practice. Coach Crawford is all about developing his RB’s all the same regardless if you’re a starter or not.”

Sources told Dawg Post after that spring visit that Georgia would be in the mix for Hiter the entire way, so it’s not a surprise that Georgia made his final five. With Georgia possibly signing just one running back in the current 2025 class, Hiter knows he could possibly make an early impact in Athens down the road.

Hiter also said that while he has no exact date locked in, that he plans to get back to Georgia this fall for a big home game.

He may not play against the best competition, but Hiter’s talent was easy to see last year as he totaled 1,187 yards (1,060 rushing, 91 receiving, 36 returning) with 11 touchdowns. On the ground, Hiter rushed 150 times and averaged 7.1 yards per attempt while rushing for 117 yards a game.

Hiter is ranked as the No. 2 RB prospect, the No. 1 prospect in Virginia, and the No.29 overall prospect in the country for the 2026 class.
