ATHENS - Former UGA Football QB Stetson Bennett overcame a difficult game throw the game-winning touchdown in the Rams’ 13-12 win over the Cowboys.

Bennett threw four interceptions during the game. It was the first time the former UGA starter had competed in a live football game in nearly a year. He ended the night in Inglewood going 24 of 38 for 224 and the game-winning touchdown.

The Rams selected Georgia quarterback Stetson Bennett No. 128 overall in the fourth round of the 2023 NFL Draft, but he missed the bulk of the 2023 season to address his mental health.

“I was home,” Bennett said in May. “As far as what led to that, what transpired and all that, I think we're going to keep that in-house. But it was good. I went back home, and thank goodness (general manager) Les (Snead) and Coach McVay allowed me to do that.”

According to FanDuel, the Los Angeles Rams have +3000 odds to win the Super Bowl this upcoming season.

Bennett led Kirby Smart’s Bulldogs to back-to-back national titles. He was a Heisman Trophy finalist in 2022.

For his career at UGA, Bennett passed for 8,428 yards and 66 touchdowns, despite only starting for two full seasons. He ranks in the top five in Georgia history in pass completions, passing yards, passing touchdowns, total offense, completion percentage, and average yards per play. Most impressively, he posted a 29-3 record as the Bulldog starting quarterback.

In three postseason games in 2022 (the SEC Championship, CFP Semifinal, and CFP Championship), Bennett completed 64-of-88 (72.8%) passes for 976 yards and 11 touchdowns while also running for three scores and only tallying one interception. For the full season, he was 310-of-454 (68.3%) for 4,127 yards and 27 touchdowns to go with a team-best 10 rushing TDs.

Meanwhile, former UGA QB and No. 1 overall NFL Draft pick Matthew Stafford is gearing up for his 16th season of NFL football. Stafford will start this season for the Rams. He led that franchise to a win in Super Bowl LVI.
