ATHENS - UGA Football released some highlights from the Georgia Bulldogs’ first scrimmage of the season.
Kirby Smart’s No. 1 Dawgs will face off with the No. 14 Clemson Tigers in three weeks in Atlanta. The Bulldogs are trying to nail down critical positions and get ready for what is one of the most challenging schedules Georgia has ever had.
On Saturday the Dawgs gathered for their first scrimmage of the season, and Dawg Post reported that Kirby was urging his players to thrive in the challenging heat. But that didn’t happen.
Instead Kirby said his team was “trying to survive because it is so hot.”
“Sometimes we have to practice like this to realize what we have to do,” he said after the practice to a group of boosters who had seen much of the scrummage.
During the highlights backup quarterback Ryan Puglisi is shown throwing the ball deep to walk-on WR Jeremy Bell. It is unclear it Puglisi connected with Bell on that attempt, or if the production team with UGA’s digital staff simply edited that play together.
Another clip showed Smael Mondon batting away a ball intended for Lawson Luckie, who insiders say played a lot of snaps during the scrimmage. Carson Beck is shown nearly throwing an interception to Jalon Walker while trying to connect with Oscar Delp.
Another clip showed true freshman Quintavius Johnson taking on newcomer Jahzare Jackson, who is transitioning from basketball to football. A clip of Nate Frazier shows him cutting back to hit a big hole with Troy Bowles trailing him. A very short clip of Anthony Evans is shown as is an interception caught by Joenel Aguero.
Insiders have raved about Frazier so far this August. Read more insider information about the Bulldogs here. Get Dawg Post today for $1 until the Dawgs travel to Alabama for that all-important game.
