ATHENS - He's one of the greatest Georgia Bulldogs of all time.

Two-time national champion and two-time John Mackey Award winner, Bock Bowers.

Georgia fans already know how special Bowers is, but it’s clear Las Vegas Raiders head coach Antonio Pierce is seeing that special talent, too.

“He’s already ahead of the curve”, Pierce told NFL insider Jonathan Jones earlier this week. “This guy is special. He gets it. He’s played the game at a high level in college. He’s taken the playbook seriously. He’s taking things from the meeting room to the practice field. He’s not a repeat offender. The ball means a lot to him. That’s all he cares about. He doesn’t want to sing or talk to the media. He just wants to put the pads on.”

According to FanDuel, the Georgia Bulldogs are 13.5-point favorites to defeat the Clemson Tigers in week one of the college football season.

During the 1st round of the 2024 NFL Draft, the 2022 and 2023 Mackey Award winner slipped all the way down to No. 13, giving Las Vegas an easy decision.

Raiders fans who don’t watch college football were a little perplexed by the pick. Tight end wasn’t a giant need, and the Raiders have plenty of holes up and down their roster.

But passing on Bowers wasn’t an option. He’s not your traditional tight end, and Raider fans will figure that out early in the 2024 season.

As talented as he is, Bowers has a laser focus that will allow him to succeed early in the NFL. He loves to practice, loves to compete, and will give the Raiders everything he has on the practice field and in film review.

He was the greatest college football tight end of all time for a reason. He’s a gamer. A playmaker. A student of the game with an outstanding skill set on the gridiron.

Now, it appears he’s already proving his worth in Las Vegas. With the season quickly approaching, look for Bowers to see the ball early and often during his rookie season this fall.
