DALLAS - Former Alabama Crimson Tide football coach Nick Saban is now a credentialed media member, and has made his prediction on who will play in the 2024 SEC Championship game.

Saban predicted that Georgia Bulldogs will play the Texas Longhorns for the SEC crown this December.

“Texas is really good offensively, and even though their quarterback has missed time the last couple of years, Arch Manning was lights out during the spring game. That depth at quarterback is really important to them. I really like Texas and I think Georgia has a really good team.”

Saban didn’t dive into Georgia’s “really good team”, but he did go on to say not to count out his Crimson Tide this year under new head coach Kalen Debour.

“I believe in our Alabama team, too. I believe in Jalen Milroe, but I think the question marks in the secondary. Until those are resolved, it’s hard to really jump on that bandwagon.”

Sabana’s former Alabama quarterback and SEC Network analyst Greg McElroy has a different opinion. He’s predicted that Texas and his Alabama Crimson Tide will play for the SEC title this year, although he had a lot of positives to say about the Dawgs.

“I think Georgia has fewer questions, but there are things about last year’s team that were a little bit troubling. They struggled at times against zone reads. The stretch-zone hurt them. They still probably have the fewest questions of anyone in the conference. I don’t think Alabama is as far behind as everyone thinks.

Former Georgia Bulldog tight end Ben Watson, another SEC analyst, picked Georgia to play against Lane Kiffin and the Ole Miss Rebels for the SEC Championship.

According to FanDuel, it’s the Georgia Bulldogs who have the best odds to win the 2024 SEC Title at +185.
