ATHENS - UGA football’s season opener against the Clemson Tigers will kickoff a big opening Saturday of the college football season.

The Bulldogs will take on Dabo Swinney’s program at Noon in Atlanta in a game that will be televised by ABC. The game is the start of a tripleheader on ABC that will feature the Dawgs and Tigers, Miami (FL) at Florida and the nightcap of Notre Dame at Texas A&M. ESPN’s College Gameday is set to broadcast from College Station.

According to FanDuel, the Seattle Mariners have +140 odds to win the American League West this year.

ESPN released the schedule for much of the first week of the college football season on Tuesday morning. This marks the Bulldogs’ fourth appearance in the Kickoff Game after No. 3 Georgia most recently defeated 11th-ranked Oregon 49-3 in 2022. The Bulldogs’ all-time record on ABC is 51-27-2 after topping Georgia Tech in 2023 during Georgia’s only appearance on the network last season.

ABC is taking advantage of its new contractual rights to the Bulldogs and the rest of the SEC. Georgia is already scheduled to play on that network twice this season - with a marquee matchup vs. Alabama slated to be broadcast on ABC in primetime. The SEC has said that fans should expect game times to be annouced earlier than in the past due to the new exclusive agreement that starts broadcasting this fall.

“All eyes will be on Atlanta when two of college football’s biggest brands face off in a showdown that will certainly have College Football Playoff implications,” Gary Stokan, Peach Bowl, Inc. CEO and president said in a statment. “Whoever wins this matchup will take the first major step toward the playoff and the possibility of making a return trip to Atlanta when we host our first-ever CFP Quarterfinal at the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl on New Year’s Day.”

The Aflac Kickoff Game will mark the 66th meeting between the two programs dating back to 1897. The Bulldogs currently lead the series with a 43-18-4 all-time record against the Tigers, including the recent 10-3 victory in their 2021 season opener.
