ATHENS - Georgia Bulldog coach Kirby Smart has his quarterback in the 2025 class.

That's because 4-star target Ryan Montgomery‍ committed to Mike Bobo and the Dawgs today over South Carolina and Florida, giving Smart a much-needed quarterback commitment in this current recruiting cycle.

The Findlay (OH) gunslinger has been a long-time Georgia target who took several big visits to Athens over the last 12 months. With a big opportunity to play for a powerhouse program, Montgomery happily jumped on board.

Of course, this is no surprise to Dawg Post members who were told last week to expect Georgia to turn up the heat on this impressive four-star target.

What is Georgia getting in Montgomery?

They’re getting a tough, accurate leader.

A good overall athlete who played multiple sports in high school, Montgomery has natural arm talent with a promising 6-foot-3 215-pound frame. He moves and throws with good tempo and timing, but he also has the ability to improvise and make plays when things break down.

Montgomery comes from a football family and his athleticism is easy to notice on film. He shows good footwork in the pocket, can buy time, and is mobile enough to take off for a big gain if there’s room to run. Still, while he can make plays with his legs, it’s his arm talent that’s led him to Georgia.

Montgomery loves the seam route and carved up defenses in the middle of the field all season long last season as a junior. He also throws the corner route on time and appears calm and collected with every drop-back. He can fit the ball into tight windows but knows how to throw with touch when he needs to as well.

His ball placement is outstanding, showing consistent accuracy against both man coverage and in-between zones. The Ohio native has a high football IQ and loves to compete. He has the mental makeup and the physical tools that should translate well to the next level.

As a junior last fall, Montgomery completed 70% of his passes for 3,300+ yards and 38 passing touchdowns. He also rushed for 10 more scores during his massive 2023 season.

Montgomery is ranked as the No.19 QB prospect and the No. 243 overall prospect in the 2025 class.

Where does Georgia go next?

Well, that answer is simple. It’s 5-star QB Jared Curtis‍, who is already on the commit list for the 2026 class.

The Nashville Christian (GA) standout is ranked as the No. 14 overall prospect and the No. 3 QB prospect in the 2026 class. As a sophomore last year, Curtis threw for 2,522 yards and 25 touchdowns while rushing for 543 yards and 13 more scores.
